Braaap!

On Saturday night Manfriend got to enjoy his big Christmas gift from me…tickets to the season opener of AMA Supercross at Angle Stadium.

We dressed warm, see:

My parents have been taking me to these events since I was a little kid, and I remember sitting in the freezing cold and rain some years.

Look how excited we are:

It’s our signature face. Go with it.

Some highlights of the evening: Blue Moon on tap, me spilling my precious Blue Moon on myself and the chair in front of me during the National Anthem (hey, I wasn’t ready for the fireworks), Villopoto winning the 450’s, Dungey taking a KTM to the podium, Bubba crashing and missing the podium, “old” guys (Windhamn) racing, double shots at the hotel bar.

It was a great night, with some great races.

Manfriend really love Supercross, and I’m a fan so it’s nice that we can enjoy the races together.

Plus, I’m a pretty cool girlfriend to score seats on the Start/Finish side and we had a perfect view of the holeshot. Win!

New Year, New Challenges

I’ve never been one to set a New Years Resolution…it’s just not my style. I think for one year I vowed to take my vitamins more. Boring. No resolutions for this year, just a new commitment to pushing myself harder to be healthier.

I’m a relatively healthy person: I don’t smoke, I don’t drink excessively, I don’t eat red meat, poultry or pork, I exercise, I drink lots of water and I wear sunscreen.  Not a bad start right?

Here’s the deal. I can do better.

At one point I was working out for 5 hours a day. Sometimes more if I was also riding.

I don’t love exercise, I love the feeling when it’s over. I love tired and sore muscles. I love hardly being about to move without feeling some tender pain. I love a good shower after a long workout. I love eating after working out. I would often spend a good chunk of my time in the pool dreaming up my next meal :)

Attempt one to push myself (and my bionic ankle) harder is this:

I agreed to be on a 4 person team with some friends. I’ve never done anything like this before. I’ve never been good on land, that why I did water sports mostly. I had a long career in Youth Soccer…as a goalie. Not a runner.

So what? I think it’s time I (and my bionic ankle) suck it up and do something cool that I’ll be proud of. Am I worried about my bionic ankle? Hellz yez. It’s gonna suck. But it already hurts most of the time anyway, so what else is new? I have limited range of motion and flexibility in it already, why not try something different?

How am I going to prep for this bad boy at the lake? This:

It’s the Couch to 5k program, and I start on Monday. In 9 weeks I hope I can run 3 miles without stopping.

Wish me (and the bionic ankle) luck!

Holiday Hiatus Hibernation

I didn’t do much posting over the holiday hiatus. Honestly, I didn’t do much of anything. There were no trips out of town, no major events, just some good relaxing time.

There was Christmas:

Family:

Gifts:

For Christmas I gave Manfriend 2 tickets to AMA Supercross (for this weekend), I also got all of his watches fixed and bought a fancy watch case to store them in. I even got him a new watch to add to his collection!

Manfriend gave me an awesome new pair of sunglasses, a Harvey’s purse (I’ll post about it soon) and new UGG Slippers.

It was a wonderful Christmas. We spent Christmas Eve with my side of the family, and Christmas morning with his. We did dinner with my parents on Christmas evening. It was a very busy weekend. We both worked (me from home mostly) up until the weekend of Christmas so we were very excited to have a whole week off together.

We didn’t make any major plans for the week off, we thought about going camping or to SD to visit friends. But instead we decided to stay in town, relax and catch up on some errands.

Things we did between Christmas and New Years:

– Laundry

– Oil Change

– Car Washes

– Tinted ICEE’s windows

– Put License plates and Frames on ICEE

– Picked up a new bed for Manfriend’s parents

– Cleaned the house

– Bought and assembled a new bike rack for the house

– Bought and assembled a new bookcase for the house

– Cooked breakfast, lunch and dinner several times

We spent New Years Eve Day at the LA zoo!

It was a great way to spend a sunny December day.

That night we made dinner and drinks at home and watched Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Year’s Eve Show.

New Years Day is Momma-son’s birthday. For proof of her name:

We had Hibachi for dinner. It was so yummy.

Momma-son is having fun, I promise!

After dinner we went back to my parent’s place for gifts…and kitties!

Jan 2nd we decided to embark on an adventure. We rode this on our bikes:

Ugh. It was rough, but worth it when it was over. We’re planning to ride it several more times until it gets easier.

That’s the wrap up! Now it’s back to work and our normally scheduled programming (minus Community on Thursday nights – boo).

Happy Hump Day!
